Dimensions guide
A quick reference for the standard dimensions of the containers most used in Panama. These are approximate ISO values; confirm the real measurements with the seller when you need precision.
The 20 ft container measures roughly 6.06 m long, 2.44 m wide and 2.59 m high on the outside. Inside it offers about 5.90 m long, 2.35 m wide and 2.39 m high, with a volume of about 33 m³ and around 13 to 14 m² of floor space.
Its tare (empty weight) is around 2.2 tonnes. It is the easiest unit to place and transport in tight spaces, ideal for compact storage, a job site or securing equipment.
The 40 ft container measures roughly 12.19 m long, 2.44 m wide and 2.59 m high on the outside. Inside it offers about 12.03 m long, 2.35 m wide and 2.39 m high, with a volume of about 67 m³ and around 28 m² of floor space.
Its tare is around 3.7 to 3.8 tonnes. It offers almost double the capacity of a 20 ft and is the preferred option for high volume, though it needs more space and better access to maneuver.
The 40 ft High Cube shares its length and width with the standard 40 ft, but it is about a foot (roughly 30 cm) taller: close to 2.90 m of exterior height and around 2.69 m of interior height, with a volume of about 76 m³.
That added height is useful for bulky cargo, tall shelving and conversions such as offices or living spaces. In return, it is worth checking clearances and access, because the total height on the truck increases.
The 10 ft container is a compact version (around 2.99 m long) that helps when space is very limited or you need little volume. It is less common on the market, so it is worth confirming availability.
The 45 ft High Cube is longer (close to 13.7 m) and keeps the High Cube height, so it offers even more capacity. It appears less often and is usually used when you need extra length and volume.
These dimensions are ISO standard and serve as a reference, but they can vary slightly depending on the manufacturer and the age of the unit. If you are going to install racks, plan a layout or move the unit through a tight access point, ask the seller for the real measurements and interior photos.
Also remember to account for room to maneuver and unload: a unit may fit in its final spot but still need more space for the truck and the crane during delivery.
About 12.03 m long, 2.35 m wide and 2.39 m high inside, with close to 67 m³ of capacity.
The High Cube is about 30 cm (a foot) taller: close to 2.90 m of exterior height versus 2.59 m for the standard.
The approximate tare is about 2.2 tonnes for a 20 ft and around 3.7 to 3.8 tonnes for a 40 ft. It varies by unit.
A 20 ft offers around 13 to 14 m² of floor space and a 40 ft close to 28 m². Useful for planning storage or a layout.
They are approximate standard values and can vary a little by manufacturer and age. Confirm with the seller if you need precision.
